Each client organisation has different needs and a different range of production resources at their disposal. For example, some clients have never dealt with video production before whilst others may have their own in-house AV department but need to outsource their overspill.
To help an organisation work through the video production process, Axworks has developed a seven stage Media Action Plan. This breaks down each step of the workflow from initial concept through to final delivery.
Clients can come to us at any stage in this process. Your organisation may just be starting to think about the need for a video or may already have filmed rushes in need of professional editing.
Our level of input will reflect how aware the client is of the film making process and the level of involvement requested by the client.

STAGE ONE - EVALUATION
Axworks will help you assess what your core message is and offer advice on the best way to communicate that message. We will help you to decide whether video is the correct route to take, or whether print or audio media would be more efficient.
If video is the best method, we establish the most appropriate distribution techniques - i.e through the web, through DVD distribution, through viral messaging or through local broadcasting. We offer suggestions and solutions and working together we can formulate an effective campaign.

STAGE TWO - INITIAL CONCEPT
We look at your core message and suggest appropriate genres to use in conveying the ideas. This could be in the form of a news report, short commercial, drama reconstruction, documentary or an animation. The options are varied, dependent on the message and on the target audience as well as on the budget and time scales available.

STAGE THREE - CREATIVE PLANNING
This is the stage where close liaison with our client is crucial. Through initial ideas meetings and research and with an agreed concept, we draw up a rough treatment and evaluate project costs. Once this has been been passed by the client we issue a contract and are ready to go into pre-production.

STAGE FOUR - PRE-PRODUCTION
This stage covers script-writing (including feedback from external consultants where requested), planning and scheduling the shoot.

STAGE FIVE - PRODUCTION
The production stage is where all the major filming, interviewing, animation takes place. We will produce and direct the shoot, and depending on the size of the production will either shoot ourselves or employ skilled and trusted camera and sound technicians.

STAGE SIX - EDITING AND POST PRODUCTION
Stage six is where the film really starts to come together. Our editor combines the shot footage with graphics and music to create a rough cut for client viewing. Once this has been viewed and comments have been given, we move on to edit a fine cut. Clients have the opportunity to make additional comments here before a final ‘locked’ picture cut.
Once the client has signed off on the locked picture, the film is mastered to broadcast quality tape for archiving and can also be either exported to a quicktime web format or authored onto DVD. Axworks will help you to make the most appropriate choices for delivery and archiving. We can also return the master rushes to you for your own reversioning at a later date.

STAGE SEVEN - DISSEMINATION TO THE AUDIENCE
The final and most exciting stage, when the finished film is actually offered to the audience. At this point Axworks can also provide audience evaluation and user testing in the field where this is appropriate or requested.
